   UPDATE on proposed schools Weavering    December 19, 2018

The following has just been received from the applicant’s agent. Whilst MBC may have received the planning application it can take time to check the actual paperwork so it may be two weeks before it is placed onto the MBC website. As soon as the parish council hears that it is posted it will be advertising the fact to residents.

No additional information has been received just the following.

“Good morning

I am writing on behalf of the project team behind plans for Bearsted Primary and Snowfields Academies to inform you that the planning application for both schools was submitted to Maidstone Borough Council yesterday afternoon.

After carefully reviewing feedback from almost 200 local residents and from pre-application discussions with the Borough and Kent County Council highways, the project team have made the following additional measures to the submitted plans;

The central (of three) pedestrian crossing on Bearsted Road will be controlled

Build-outs will provide two further crossing points, traffic calming and avoid any impact on woodland adjacent to Bearsted Road

Existing on-street parking in front of Gidds Pond Cottages to be removed and replaced with off-street parking

 New pedestrian footways and crossings south and east of the KIMS roundabout will provide a more direct route from New Cut

New 30mph speed limit and street lighting on Bearsted Road from KIMS roundabout to Hockers Lane

Funding of a formal surfaced route from Grove Green across Weavering Heath if consent is granted for the schools.

Bowmer + Kirkland are pleased that through discussions with KCC they have been able to respond immediately to highways issues raised by the community in their feedback.  We hope that these additional measures will help ease community concerns as the majority of the 200 responses we received also showed support for new schools for the area.

After the plans have been validated by MBC we will encourage the community to register their views direct to the Council.  The project website is also regularly updated at bearstedandsnowfieldsplans.co.uk and more than 150 people have registered to be kept informed via our update email.

Thank you for your continued interest in Bearsted Primary and Snowfields Academies.  We will be in touch again in the new year after validation.  Please do get in touch if you have any questions.”

Please bear with the parish council at the moment but until the plans are received it is not possible to answer specific questions but as soon as more information is available you will be informed.

The parish council wishes all its residents a Happy Christmas and New Year.
